The Process: My Weimaraner wine stoppers are made in small batches in my Northern California studio. Once the piece is formed, it is kiln-fired, glazed and hand-painted with a cobalt blue band and fired again. After the second firing, it becomes the blank canvas for my original artwork, which is transferred digitally to ceramic decals through the magic of my very awesome and high tech ceramic decal printer. The decal is made from ceramic pigments and fires at 1500+ degrees Fahrenheit, becoming a part of the glaze surface. Because my items are handmade, one should expect slight variations between pieces with regard to color and glaze surface and there may be subtle specks in the glaze and the like. This is part of the charm and individuality of handmade pottery.
